Our Process

Assessment is about more than a diagnosis

We take the time to understand the whole person, including their strengths, experiences, relationships, environment, and support needs.

Our goal is to help each person understand themselves, recognise their strengths, access meaningful support, and move forward with greater confidence and authenticity.

Our assessment process provides a space for each person to feel seen, heard, and understood.

We want people to feel comfortable being themselves and sharing their experiences without feeling that they need to meet particular expectations.

Flexible Location

We Come to You

When clinically appropriate, assessments may take place in schools, community settings close to home, homes and via Telehealth.

Familiar settings can support comfort, authentic participation and understanding of everyday functioning. The team will explain which parts of an assessment can be completed in each setting.

Complete our secure Request Services form and tell us a little about yourself or the person you are enquiring for. You can share the questions you would like help understanding, any concerns you have, and the type of assessment you are considering.

You do not need to know which assessment is needed before contacting us. Submitting the form does not commit you to booking an assessment.

A member of our team will review the information you provide and contact you to discuss your needs. We will ask questions about the reason for seeking an assessment, the person’s circumstances, and what you hope to gain from the process.

This conversation helps us understand whether Brain Sprout Clinic is the right service and which assessment pathway may be most appropriate.

We will explain the recommended assessment, what it will involve, who may participate, and where each part can take place. You will receive clear information about the expected time, total cost, payment arrangements, and current appointment availability before deciding whether to proceed.

The assessment plan can also include communication, sensory, accessibility, or emotional adjustments that may support comfortable participation.

Before the appointment, you may be asked to complete questionnaires, provide relevant reports, or invite someone who knows you or your child well to share information.

Assessment appointments may involve conversations, observation, play, puzzles, questions, or structured activities. The process is adapted to the person’s age, needs, and communication style. Breaks, movement, sensory supports, and other appropriate adjustments are available throughout. The assessment may be completed in one day or across several appointments.

Once all information has been reviewed, you will attend a feedback appointment to discuss the findings. We will explain what was learned, answer your questions, and talk through any diagnosis, identified strengths, support needs, and recommended next steps.

You will also receive a comprehensive written report that brings the assessment information together and provides practical recommendations for home, education, work, healthcare, or everyday life. Reports are typically provided within four weeks of the assessment.
